Project

The PLDK EXPORT project stems from the desire of 4 companies to exploit their abilities (i.e. their experiences, skills, resources and technology) in an integrated manner, to target the international market in the Benelux area, as well as similar reachable markets (Germany and Holland).
Tackling an internationalization project can be very demanding for an SME, both from a financial point of view and as regards the human resource involvement too. That is why many projects are doomed to fail. Splitting costs and resources has proven to be a winning strategy that the 4 companies have successfully espoused, and which has led to establish a more stable presence on the chosen market.
The companies have identified a point of contact between market demand in this area and the aggregation offer in terms of products and organization.

Companies

Polycart

Polycart was born as a company specialized in polyethylene film extrusion, but over the years it has expanded its technology portfolio in order to deal with biopolymers too. Therefore, the company has also been producing biodegradable, compostable films of various thicknesses and sizes, both extruded and coextruded ones. In addition to diversifying the range of films it handled (i.e. plastic and organic ones), Polycart has also managed to widen its business through another approach. After the acquisition of Print Plast, a company operating in the field of plastic film printing and welding, Polycart can now deal not only with plastic film production and marketing, but also with the transformation of such films into finished products, such as bags and shoppers. Thanks to the rigorous management of the production processes, in 1998, Polycart obtained the ISO 9001 certification with the following specification: ‘Development, production and printing of polyethylene films with high (HDPE), medium (MDPE) and low (LDPE) density, which are made of bio-plastic material, and produced through extrusion and co-extrusion processes. The films are also suitable for food packaging’. Moreover, in recent years, thanks to some Research & Development projects carried out in cooperation with research institutes and the GPT network (Gruppo Poligrafico Tiberino – Tiber Printing Group) (of which Polycart is also a member), the company has been able to create new families of adhesive and non-adhesive products, which are completely biodegradable and compostable, according to the UNI EN 13432 standard. Following such projects, Polycart has been able to replicate the results obtained and identify a wide range of markets that it could focus on, thanks to the development of different biodegradable products. Currently, Polycart produces over 5 million kilos of film per year, and it covers a wide range of markets, such as those for biodegradable industrial packaging, film for paper coupling, special film for thermal/acoustic insulation, films for garbage bags/shopping bags, food packaging, biodegradable mulch films made of Mater-Bi®. Polycart’s customers operate in the following industries: Food – wrapping, packaging, etc.; Mass Retailing – fruit and vegetable bags, labels, price labellers, etc.; Communication; Cosmetic & Pharmaceutical.

Litograf

Litograf Editor was founded in 1985 and, since the very beginning, it has been dealing with sheet-fed offset printing and packaging. Litograf Editor specializes in high-quality offset printing, and by using technologically advanced and fully certified typography machines, which ensure a careful and constant control throughout the whole production process, it has been able to achieve very high-quality results in terms of typography and paper converting. Litograf Editor is also proud to offer its customers all-round packaging solutions, thanks to production lines that can manage staples, paperbacks and the paper converting line. All this can be done through a painstaking control of the whole project, from setup to the finishing phase, and thanks to the hands and eyes of its valuable staff, that boasts some highly skilled workers who have acquired a wide and sound experience in the typography industry.

Digital Point is a company operating in the communication field. Throughout the years, it has succeeded in reacting effectively to change, as required by the market. In particular, the company has become an important player that is able to deal with digital communication in all its possible forms, i.e. commercial printing, paper converting, display racks and shop-in-shops structures, interior design customization and multimedia marketing. Strong future orientation, combined with a propensity to invest in both human and technological resources, have become the Digital Point’s main features. All this has enabled the company to keep up with market changes and customer requirements. Moreover, the company has achieved high quality standards in terms of both processes and products. Such a remarkable productive capacity, matched with its experience in the field of materials, has allowed Digital Point to become a reliable stakeholder in the field of communication products, especially in relation to Point of Sale products and solutions. During Digital Point's corporate life, an important turning point occurred in 2008, when the company created its own product catalogue and started a graphic design service for customized solutions to be tailored according to the needs of end customers. Therefore, a Technical Office was set up, to deal with the design, rendering and prototyping functions. The company will continue to enhance the Technical Office through investments on new machinery and for the development of internal skills.
